Everyone knows the story of Tom Thumb. In this tale, everyone remembers Tom Thumb in the Ogre’s house, his unfortunate daughters, and the ogresses, ending up having their throat slit by their father in the middle of the night. This play takes its inspiration from that precise moment: when Tom Thumb and the ogresses meet. The play looks at that chapter from the ogresses’ side, one in particular who doesn’t eat meat, and spending her time reading books: revolutionary! When she meets Tom Thumb getting close to her home, she knows his story… She knows what is going to happen in the middle of the night! The play tells us about the possibility for everyone to escape destiny. It is also about fathers “we don’t know everything about” and submissive and conniving mothers… and above all, about little girls that open their way up in the middle of all that, in order to grow-up and manage to fly away.
